I was googling photosensitivity today as I think it is a part of my sons issues. It does say that it can cause seizures for some. For my son, sometimes flourescent lighting is an immediate response (we walk in a store and on come the tics) although I believe sometimes it is a delayed and build up response. Such as a little of tv is ok, but repeated doses cause trouble. The weird thing is, I also think the sun and a long period of time in it, can cause trouble too. I still dont know about that one though, yet I think so. Anyway, keep an eye on these things to see if it is a possibility. Claire has many posts on it if this seems to be a problem. The inflammation thing is something I have been thinking about and researching. I believe it is a big part of our kids problems. The causes vary, but the results are major problems for the brain. I think autism and tics are a result of inflammation in the brain. The brain just can not handle inflammation well. An example is that PANDAS is antibodies attacking the brain and then inflammation occurs. If I understand correctly, the inflammation causes the disorders. So, maybe the discharge caused inflammation and all of these problems are the result of it. Well, what caused the discharge? If you can find that out, you may be able to get to the bottom of it. Praying that tomorrow brings you hope and Monday brings you answers!!!

BMOM...Thank You so much for your reply and good wishes. Carolyn poasted above you about the same thing. I then went back and read all the threads. One thing I want to try is taking TV away for a week. From the old posts I have read it is IMPORTANT that it be a FULL week. And that also I found it to be MOST interesting when most of the parents who tried it for the full week had EXTREMELY positive results. Reporting in the 70%'s decrease in tics!!!

already have a plan to unplug ALL the TV's in the house and report a cable outage to the little one. I was all set to put this plan in motion after I informed my husband of it in the morning. BUT...then I thought about her on topomax. If she stopped jerking I would be confused as to if it was the medicine or the TV.

I always have this problem when trying to identify the triggers. So I thought for now I will wait and see what happens on Monday.

I did though add this to my question list for the new neuro...I will let you know what he says.

The old one commented on sugar and chocalate as a trigger. Also I will ask about the chlorine.....this has me wondering as well.

Have a wonderful night and I sure hope things are good for you and do not resemble at all whats been going on over here.

We all need Gods Speed in this!

((((Wendy))))

I just read your note about your daughter, and my heart goes out to you and your family!!!! Gosh, parenting is hard enough... this kind of added stress is SO brutal. I do hope that you get some answers soon, and can find some ways to releive her symptoms.

Just want to relate a little queery that I've always had. My NT child (eldest) had clonic (I think... not myclonic) jerks as an infant. At 16 months she had a fibral (grand mal) seizure which was scary to witness and manage. The EEG appeared normal. She has had no problems since... touch wood! I have always wondered if and how it might relate to my son's tics.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Take care!

Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way! Try to stay positive. I totally understand how devastating it is to watch your child have no control over their own body and wishing you could make it stop. I know that God is watching over all of us and our children. Try to put it in His hands.
