Fatty Acids

Just got done reading some info on fatty acids. Bodybio does a complete blood chemistry test which measures fatty acids, electrolyte defficiencies etc. This way the fatty acid supplementation is taylored to your individual needs. There seem to be several fatty acids which I had never heard of.

They have an oil which is a 4:1 ration of omega 6's to omega 3's. They are having enormous success in people with neurological problems with this new ratio. You can order a free info. packet at 1-888-320-8338. It includes the story of a little boy who's autism has been completely reversed. It seems that the brain membranes can be healed through fatty acid supplementation. Another key factor is electolyte balance. Sodium is the basic electrolyte neccessary. Low levels effect the rest of the electrolyte balance. My son who has TS and OCD who has been doing well through vitamen supplementation got sick a few weeks back, We've been stuck in a rut. His mood swings are horrible!!! Someone suggested that I give him sodium and potassium lozenges by Hylands. Within an our he was actually normal. If the electrical system is not on all the vitamins in the world won't help because the body does't know what to do with them. What I find intriguing about the fatty acids is that healing can actually begin. My ultimate goal is to have a child who won't need to take a supplements every day just to be normal!!

Jennifer, I was just reading your note! Can you tell us more about this Hylands lozenge? What is it. What do you mean normal--like did his TS go away or what? are you doing the fatty acids testing and supplements too? or did he get better with out that. life without supplements that would be great!! nancy

The Hylands lozenges are called kali-mur and natri-mur. I believe the kali-mur is sodium and the natri-mur is potassium or the other way around. What I mean by normal is that his was quite calm, relaxed and his tics went back to being hardly noticable. Those supplements aren't the only key, but are certainly very important. We tend to think of supplementing our children with electrolytes (pedialyte or gatorade) when they have had the stomach flu. Any kind of illness can compromise their balance and sometimes they're just off for whatever reason. If you do decide to try and supplement with liquid electrolytes daily, I would buy some good quality elecrolytes free of artificial colors and flavors. We haven't done the fatty acid testing yet, although we plan to . I just got this info. We give our son fish oil and flaxseed oil, however, my understanding is that through testing you can know exactly which ones are missing and have a good supplementation schedule based on your child's individual needs.

Jennifer, I was reading the above info on the lozenges, where did you get them from? Also do you know of a brand of liquid electrolytes that is free of color etc. I cant find one in my area. My son Has TS and OCD, ADD and also has alot of anxiety problems. He is taking Zoloft for the anxiety and we are trying Bonnie's vitamins. He is only showing a minor improvement. I am grateful for any improvement but it gets you down when I see so many success stories and I feel like after 2 years of trying different things we still are not seeing great results. I feel like we are missing something. We started the Feingold diet 3 weeks ago and it seems to be helping some days and some days its like we never started. my son has terrible mood swings and cries every morning before school. It is so hard watching him go through so much at his age. I appreciate your information you have posted. Any ideas you have for my son would be great!

Dear Robin,

I got the lozenges at a local health food store. Bodybio has electrolytes that are strictly in water which allows you to put them in food as long as the food is luke warm (heat destroys the electolytes). I'm sure your health food store would have some pretty good electrolytes. Check and see what the side effects of Zoloft are, many times you will find that the side effects aren't much better than the symptoms. I would reccomend going to see a natural physician or homeopathic doctor. We are taking our son to both and between the two we're getting somewhere. Another thing to consider is possible heavy metal toxicity. That was the first place we started and sure enough he was high in many toxic metals. We did a hair analysis through Doctor's Data. They have the largest data base in the country and are the most reputable. We've done 3 now and while the metals are still an issue there levels are steadily going down with help.

We are using a product called PCA-rx which very gently removes not only heavy metals, but viral residues as well as other toxins. The company is called MAXAM nutraceutics they have a large variety of products and what makes them nice is that they are sprays which absorb through the oral mucosa making the absorption rate much higher than vitamins that need to be digested. When looking for a natural doctor ask around at your health food stores, you'll find that it's a pretty small community and if someone isn't very reputable they'll probably know. The homeopathic doctor we go to does something called muscle testing. We've had our son allergy tested this way. He has little glass vials with most allergans as well as heavy metals. You hold the vial in your hand and hold it close to your chest and extend your arm the doctor then pushes down on your arm (while you try to resist) if you are able to resist that's a good sign it means the substance does't make your body weak the other way around suggests a weakness. At first I thought it was weird, but I found it to be very accurate. I purposely did not disclose certain information, but he was able to hit the nail right on the head through muscle testing. What's neat is that they also do allergy desensitization.

Hope this was of help. Don't get discouraged it can sometimes take a while. I think the main key is to find out what is wrong through various forms of testing. There are alot of tests out there to determine nutritional defficiencies and various imbalances in the body. Everyone is so individual and while the supplements the benifit these children may be similar your child may be lacking something most don't or may need more or less the the "average". It's not really possible to have a "one size fits all" everyone's needs are quite individual.
