The ingredients in this product are: Distilled water, disodium laureth sulfosuccinate and disodium cocoamphodiacetate, panthenol, PEG 150 pentaerythrityl tetrastearate, propylene glycol, diazolidinyl urea, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate.

disodium cocoamphodiacetate is/can be a coconut derivative. The company said "The Gluten Free Savonnerie Shampoo is something you'd have to try to know for certain. It is technically a synthetic product, however one of the ingredients in the shampoo – the disodium cocoamphodiacetate, is sourced from either highly refined palm kernel oil or highly refined coconut oil. The refining process removes the proteins that typically produce an allergy response."

 

Hi Everyone,

 

I'm very allergic to products containing coconuts, coconut derived ingredients, or coconut scented products. I had a severe breakout on my face that I kept getting told was acne. Once I removed coconuts, my face was no longer itchy and my face stopped breaking out. The breakout can occur so fast, but can take what seems like forever to clear up completely. It's been six months since I last knowingly used products containing coconuts. Month by month my face continues to look better, but it's a very slow healing process.

 

Finding soaps, shampoos, conditioners, toothpastes, and dish soaps that are free of coconut ingredients can be very challenging. I don't think coconut allergy is very common. However, as I'm researching products and contacting companies trying to find acceptable products, I want to create a post for that may help others dealing with a coconut allergy. Please contact the companies yourself to make sure the product is acceptable for your child's or your allergy because the ingredients in products change.

The ingredients in this product are: Distilled water, glycerin, behentrimonium methosulfate (and) cetearyl alcohol, jojoba oil, panthenol, propylene glycol, diazolidinyl urea, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate. The cetearyl alcohol in the conditioner is made from Colza Oil, not coconut oil. Colza is related to the turnip.

Dr Bronner's Magic Soaps-The company informed me that Coconut oil is their main oil used in soaps. All soaps contain coconut oil and glycerin.

 

Coconut Containing Shampoos*Not Safe*

Earth Science Allergy-Fragrance-Free Shampoo-The company informed me that this product contains a coconut derived product called Sodium Myreth Sulfate. Also most of their products contain vegetable based glycerin and coconut is often used as a source (Palm Oil).

 

California Baby Super Sensitive Shampoo & Bodywash-The company informed me that this product contains coconut derived ingredients which include decyl polyglucose, phospholipid, and aloe vera.

Carolyn.. I just discovered that Cocamidopropyl betaine was derived from coconut oil. My son is severally allergic to rice oats and coconut. He has quite a few other allergies but those are his worst. You said that Kiss My Face products are coconut free. While they don't say they have coconut they do have rice so they are out for me. I just looked on their website and every shampoo actually does contain cocamidopropyl betaine. Were you aware of this? I would hate for you to miss it. Does anyone know of anything I can use for my family? We have taken all three of those products out. He is also allergic to wheat so it really limits us. Even all of the natural products are out.

Thank you so much for this post!!! I've been struggling for so long with my coconut allergy. I never knew what it was. I got sick so much as a kid. always had some sort of rash going on and never knew what it was from until I was old enough to research a little with the internet and put two and two together and figured out I'm quite allergic to coconut. if I use a soap, lotion, or shampoo containing it, I break out in something indicative of hives. if I ingest a little bit of it, it starts to close my throat up and makes it extremely hard to take a breath and I have to rush to take some benadryl before I can't swallow. If I smell it strongly I sneeze and start to cough because it irritates my throat. I felt so alone with my allergy. I told one of my old doctors about it but she acted like I was crazy because someone would have found out about it sooner. my parents never took me to the doctor about it. never suspected anything. I sometimes think I should be carrying an epi pen because of it closing my throat. I had a scare about a month ago. ingested a good bit of it in a couple bites of this little cake like thing I got for myself and my son and a friend at Starbucks. almost immediately after the second bite, I started to cough and had to suck in hard to get air. I let my con with my friend and went go get benadryl quickly. it was in the same store. It was really scary. I was crying. it hurt my chest because I was trying so hard to breath. thank you so much for his post. I check things all the time before using or eating things. I just happened to not check for this one things. didn't look like any coconut to me. this list will help me immensely. thank you!!
