vvny
Hi All My son is back on antibiotics for his PANS and there seems to be an extreme buildup on his tongue in just 3 days ! He is on nystatin and I am not sure if its doing anything . I just started Kyolic candida cleanse and digestion which is 600mg/cap today and I plan to give him 2 caps in addition to the nystatin. Is it good to mix up nystatin with natural remedies for yeast ? Is there anything else that works better while kids are on antibiotics for long term to control the yeast build up.Please help ! At this point I feel we are never without an issue ! One leads to another ! Thanks in advance Vik
sparks_3
When my daughter had a recent flare up of yeast they told me to use 1tsp Maalox and 1tsp benedryl as a mouth wash swish it around for 10-30 seconds and spit, it would relieve the soreness in the mouth. My daughter is 3 and didn't have too much trouble it did make a substantial difference too in the soreness of her mouth.
MomWithOCDSon
Ooh, how long is the course of nystatin? I was put on that for a period many years ago, and it did not do my liver any favors! Make sure he's tested for liver function on a regular basis while he takes that. We used sachromyces boulardi (beneficial yeast) and bentonite clay for combatting yeast overgrowth, and that combination appears to have worked in our case. I'm sure it varies from gut biome to gut biome, however.
tj21
We just switched from daily Nystatin after 2.5 yrs. to to 3x/week Fluconazole. PANS provider felt it might be time to switch. There's also a Nystatin rinse that might get the oral thrush but I'd think oral (tablet) Nystatin would get it too. Also on Liposomal Glutathione and MedCaps DPO for liver support. So far so good after all this time...

mama2alex
Don't forget diet! If possible, reduce or eliminate sugar and carb intake. Candida thrives on sugar.
