Michel12
From my recent posts you guys know I recieved IVIG. I have some benefit where my muscles are more relaxed and I feel a little calmer. But how long did it take for IVIG to work for you guys. My doctors have kind of skirted around saying 3 weeks or its different for everybody and I'd really like ot know what to look for so for parents of children who had IVIG what did they start to notice? bigmighty
My son had IVIG over a period of two days. Six weeks later, he had IVIG again, also over a period of two days. Dose was 2g/kg. One week after the 2nd round of IVIG, he began to improve.
pr40
this is second hand info, I heard that IVIG works after six months. that makes sense since the reason ivig is given is to resent organism's immune system. in other words, it's a process. monthly ivig is given in smaller doses -- there are basically two different regimes, it seems michel12 got hd. cynditk
It totally depends on the person...my son is immune deficient so for him IVIG is a medication and not just a therapy for PANDAS. I agree that you are looking at a process of restoring the immune system and not a quick treatment.
airial95
For my son the effect was immediate. Within 24 hours of finishing his first infusion he was 100%. Effects lasted about 7 weeks, and he was receiving infusions every 8 weeks for almost a year.
nicklemama
In my experience, it takes months. My son had IVIG twice, 19 months apart.
