momslove
As I understand it, IgM goes up in response to a recent or current exposure or infection from mycoplasma pneumonia. The IgG goes up later, as more of an effort to provide future protection from the bacteria. At least that's the way it's supposed to work, I think. JenniferG
So...if my mom lives with us and was positive 2.0+ for Mycoplasma and doesn't want to get treated...because she feels fine and has heart issues so treatment could mess with that......could my kiddos IgM be going up form exposure to her? AND, could that make them flare? AND now what? Kick my low income mother out?!?! UGH!
Mayzoo
Is your son on any treatment (pharmaceutical or herbal antibiotics)? Yes, I believe, exposure to a person who is infected can both raise his titers and cause a flare. What to do about your mother is more complicated. See if there is a treatment that will not affect her heart condition (not all abx do affect heart conditions), then see if she will take it, not because she feels ill, but because her illness is affecting her grandson's quality of life. She may need to go to your son's doctor to hear that from him in order to convince her to treat herself for your son's sake. JenniferG
He just finished Flagyl for C Diff. Is now on Berberine, Acyclovir, Lysine, probiotics, Florastor, Fish oil. Would moving her the bedroom area to the finished basement area help at all?
