julia24
I know there are some tests you can get done w/o a script. Is a stool culture one of them? Are there any other alternatives for testing for the possibility of parasites & other "bad" bacteria in the gut? TIA - Julie
Guest
Hi Julie, You can get a stool test through www.directlabs.com I only see Genova Diagnostics lab listed which is the old Great Smokies Lab. Also Doctor's Data offers a stool test. You would have to call Direct Labs and see if they could get that lab kit if you want that one instead of the one by Genova Diagnostics. Great Plains Laboratory also offers a stool test. I know their site says that you have to have a doctor request the test, but I don't see how they enforce that. Maybe a doctor has to sign the form inside the kit. I'd have to check on my kit and see if that was the case. If you want me to check that just let me know as I still have an OAT kit from them. I use Doctor's Data for stool tests. Carolyn

Is there a quality-driven reason you prefer Doctor's Data over Genova? -Julie
Guest
Hi Julie, There's no quality reason for prefering Doctor's Data over Genova that I'm aware of. Doctor's Data is just the one that my doctor has chosen for the stool test. He may have reasons, but I'm not aware of them. Carolyn
