SSS
Do you think 1 antibiotic daily like Azith or Biaxin would blow his gut out? If he stays away from sugar, keep up your probiotics, I don't think it would. I thought Maryaw made a great point- I've been seeing it right in front of me this year- daily Biaxin has been a game changer- no Myco P here, tried taking her off for a switch out- yeah, no go, Dr. agreed with me to go back to Biaxin. Have to wonder if it's an anti- inflammatory aspect- Started Enhansa (Curcumin) today to see about further anti- inflammatory- and yep, still use ibuprofen. I hear you about the school setting- we are ramped up from it after a mellow improved baseline summer. While I don't currently hold a job outside the home, my PANS dd would do NOTHING for me in a home school setting- I mean it. She holds it together at school and wants to please a teacher. Me? Forget about it. She needs the outside school for education- there would be none taken in from me. This I know.
cara615
SSS - i hear you. I have a unused bottle of augmentin in the fridge from June. I have no idea if its still potent but i have though about giving it to him. I don't know what to think about this current flare really. My gut tells me its another infection for sure. But maybe its viral this time? i just don't know. Bradstreet thinks its totally exposure related and is not entertaining any additional abx at this point so its the augmentin in the fridge or nothing. once the CBD oil comes in (this monday) I will test it out to see if we can manage with that. Assuming this flare is due to a viral trigger, i am hoping the virus will eventually die. If not, then we will need to start testing for other infections. I have a list of things we are going to test for. I am giving it 2 more weeks. SSS
MaryAW
Augmentin will not be good if it is already mixed. It's good for only 10 days after it is mixed. It doesn't matter if the trigger is viral or bacterial as far as ABX helping in a PANS child. You are going for an immune modulating (calming) effect. Most PANS doctors have the children on daily ABX. I see Dr. Bouboulis in CT and he wasn't wild about me doing every other day for my DD, but if she is not flaring, it seems to work for her. Remember with the probiotics, not to give it to your child within 2 hours of the ABX - before and after. I have used a combo of Culturelle (AM) and Florastor (PM) with great success. MaryAW
Can't you call or email Dr. Bradstreet's office and explain the situation and ask for a "temporary" increase in Azith to a daily dose until the flare is over? I cannot see why he would not do this for your child. SSS
cara615
i can call him ask him for more abx but I just started giving copaiba essential oil and its helping so we may be able to stop the NSAID. In addition, CBD oil arrives today!!!! i can not wait to try it on him. I will wait till the weekend though, can't test out new things on a school day.
