JenniferG
I have been on this board for a few years, always about my dd10. Well, now that she is doing OK, my ds6 is flaring! He had a positive throat culture on Aug. Tried Azith, Cefzil and Omnicef. He has been sick now for close to a month...strep throat, sinus infection, and an ear infection that is now double ear infection and croup. Our Alt. MD (whom I bow to on a daily basis for getting my daughter back) has put him in Clindamycin 300mg 2xd. He is small....40lbs. Until further notice. Anyone use Clinda long term? He doesn't do well with probiotics, so you can see my hesitation. And he has 2 doses in him and already has a bellyache. Thoughts??
beeskneesmommy
We used Clindo for 30 days for DS 6 last summer. At the same time he was on Azith and in addition, had Rifampin for the first 14 days. I have to say, after the Rifampin dropped off and he was only on the Clindo/Azith, all broke loose. At the 29th day I dumped the Clindo and added back Augmentin and he started looking better WITHIN HOURS. There were extenuating circumstances in that he had just had IVig about 4-5 weeks prior and was still ramped up with symptoms stemming from that. Ours was a very diff. circumstance but I have very negative feelings about Clindo as a result.
