smartyjones
the other day at whole foods, I noticed fresh turmeric. I was wondering if I could do something with it -- like a tonic. I remember long ago having fresh ginger ale on a boat cruise for sea sickness. would it have a high enough concentration to use it like that? is anyone doing anything with fresh turmeric? cara615
I don't use fresh, just the powdered turmeric and I put it on his cheicken, eggs, whatever I can. he eats it no problem. I try to make sure he gets some every day. I would think that fresh would be more potent but I don't have scientific reasearch to back up my claim
MomWithOCDSon
Typically, with most herbs, the dried, powdered variety is actually MORE potent than the fresh because it is concentrated, with all the extra parts of the original plant (stems, seed casings, etc.) removed from the mix. Never tried fresh turmeric, Smarty, but you'll have to let us know how you decide to use it!
