trintiybella
The bad reaction never ends and sleep is worse on thi stuff. Wondering if I should just keep upping probiotics to help with die/off (if it is doe/off) or go back on ampho.? We stopped ampho. Cause I thought it was giving bad head aches but it was not the ampho doing this.
LNN
I don't have any answers - only a few things to try. My DS has been off abx since April and doing really, really well. But...he's been struggling with yeast. Started diflucan in early Sept. Because DS often herxes badly and struggles to detox, we've had a hard time with tics. I'll spare you the ups and downs but here's what I've found - I give the diflucan in the early evening. Then if I need to, I can give one charcoal capsule at bedtime (with no other pills) to help soak up toxins in the bowels. I use motrin consistently twice a day - once in the morning, once after school. I stopped probiotics as a trial. My DS reacts badly to some probiotics. On a hunch, I stopped the probiotics, wondering if somehow, they were contributing to some die off response or if they were causing some of his problems. In a small but noticeable way, he's better. Maybe he's just finally getting past the herx and stopping the probiotics has nothing to do with it. But it might be worth a try. I also noticed that when I stopped the probiotics, his constant cravings for carbs went away. Again, could be coincidence. He sometimes goes thru growth spurts where he eats nonstop and then it goes away. It could be unrelated. But I pass it along as something to try. I think I saw a change for the better after about 5-7 days of no probiotics. When we're done with diflucan, I may go back to a small dose of probiotics a few times a week, but we'll see. (remember, my DS is NOT on antibiotics, so my situation is a little different) When herxing got really bad, we took a 3-7 day holiday to let things calm down and then I re-started the diflucan again. Lemon water helps make the pH unattractive for yeast Make sure you get 1-2 BMs per day Cut out as much sugar as you can, including carbs that then turn into sugar. Talk to your dr about pulsing (giving diflucan on an on/off schedule) or a lower dose (we used 100mg but taken as 2 50mg tablets - this let me reduce the dose for a few days at a time when tics got bad). It's been 2 months and DS is still having some tics but either we've all gotten numb to it or it does seem to be not as bad as it was in the beginning. I do know that when I've stopped it for a "holiday" the other symptoms came back, so I don't think the yeast is gone yet. But when he's on the diflucan, he's starting to feel better and better, so I don't think it's any sort of Pandas flare. Just yeast. Good luck!
