OCD and histamine

Recommended Posts

This is an article about low and high histamine, and it's mental and physical affects. I was curious if any here have had their kiddos tested for high histamine, and supplemented for it. I believe my daughter and I have mutations that can contribute to high histamine, but can't off the top of my head remember which one is involved. We are both perfectionists, driven, etc. DD is very OCD, very anxious to the point of panic, etc. and I'm wondering if this is something I should request having her tested for. We haven't had any success using regular antihistamines, but am willing to try some different supplements.

We have never undergone any specific testing, but I would think a test for histamine levels wouldn't be an out-of-the-box request.

We came to feel similarly about histamine's role in our DS via this information (similar to your link, but somewhat more succinctly laid out):

We have found Pepcid to be a terrific addition to his meds, particularly during periods of high stress. We also use quercitin regularly.

Good luck!
