T_Anna
Anyone have experience with propranolol? What about "sick euthyroid syndrome"? DS's tests came back regarding Graves and Hashimotos....all unlikely....the anti-thryroglobulin and anti-thyperoxidase antibodies are negative. Hashimoto encephalopathy unlikely. Possibly a direct viral thyroiditis, not immune related. ANA negative (no CNS lupus) Thanks for any information. T.Anna
peglem
We used propranolol for about a year for migraine prevention and, I guess, calming. But I think reducing the headaches was the real reason for the calmerness (I made that word up, but I think it works). Anyway, as we implemented Methylfolate/methylcobalimine/P5P form of B6- I forgot to dose the propranolol a few times and discovered she no longer needs it and it was causing some distress. It definitely helped at the time we started it.
lfran
I take a form of propanolol myself for an irregular heartbeat and found that it also helps a lot with anxiety. My cardiologist told me that it is used off-label as an anti anxiety med.
T_Anna
Seems it is also used to treat hyperthyroid. http://www.uptodate.com/contents/beta-blockers-in-the-treatment-of-hyperthyroidism T.Anna
