Lyme and Restless Leg

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking about T. Anna's kid's symptoms, specifically RLS because our dd has it too.

Here is what I found: one study has 20% of Lyme documented patients also have RLS. and vice versa, Lyme is found in significant number of people suffering from RLS.

While RLS is not always caused by Lyme bacteria, it can be. So, my conclusion is that if you have RLS, do Western Blot with Igenex just to make sure.

Both my kids have Lyme and kick like crazy in their sleep. I completely agree if you have mycoplasma or extended symptoms especially such as psych incl OCD, pain or fatigue, Lyme needs to be thoroughly evaluated. Western blot evaluation is helpful for Lyme specific bands., NOT CDC criteria. Lyme treatment tales a longtime to yield full result. We have been treating DD for Lyme/strep/mycoplasma for 15 months and crossing fingers and toes she is 99% symptom free. Has been a long road. I consider us extremely fortunate that DD happened to test CDC positive by quest as that got us to early diagnosis for Lyme as many waste years because of missed diagnosis by a doctor that only looks at CDC criteria. We were on the verge of hospitalization as she was becoming non functional and thanks to this board and our amazing doctors she is almost at 100%.

Interesting, but I don't think DS ever had RLS. We have many other things:

Mainly severe OCD, some choreoform movements, finger tic, restrictive eating, BM issues, separation anxiety, and yeast issues.

Sorry if I was unclear.
