Mayzoo
My daughter's rubella titers were 146 with an immune level of above 9. Her immuno is worried about this antibody level above all others. A few facts: 1. She has had only one MMR shot at 12 months old. She had a negative reaction including very high fever for 2-3 days. I never re-vaccinated her. 2. My rubella titer during pregnancy was 169 with an immune being >9.9, so I was not vaccinated during pregnancy. Questions: Anyone else had their kiddos rubella titer tested? Did any of the moms here have their rubella titers tested during pregnancy? If yes to either, what were the results? Thanks everyone!! So many pieces to the puzzle. 3boysmom
Not rubella, but measles titers were off the chart. He never had the measles sickness, so the titers had to come from vaccinations. Discovered he was given the MMR at 12 months and 15 months . Dr. told me that they could do that 13 years ago. Never looked into if that was true, but definitely we had issues since that time. Dr. put him on amedidyn (spelling) for the measles titers . This was last year before the Coxsackie virus but while we were discovering MANY co-infections Edited July 20, 2013 by 3boysmom
NancyD
Had DD's rubella titers tested many years ago along with measles titers and they were both very high so we were exempt from MMR boosters. I also tested my own at the time (just out of curiosity) and they were equally as high. PowPow
JoyBop
I think one of the things that is so interesting and perplexing about all of our children with PANDAS is that they are being tested for illnesses they are not necessarily presenting symptoms for. On one hand, we realize that there really is a weakness in the immune system that allows some if these sneaky pests in, but on the other hand, most healthy kids aren't tested for these things so we really have no idea what is normal. Bottom line is, there is no normal, its trial and error until we find what works for each kid. Case in point, my kids strep titres hadn't changed a bit after 8 weeks of abx. No dnase present either. It doesn't seen normal and he still isn't right so we keep treating. But we don't really have any data for comparison bc no one ever has their titres rechecked, especially if they don't have symptoms so it leaves us wondering...is this ok? Thankfully you have a dr that is discovering these things and working on it with you. Sorry I don't hVe any info, but I can totally relate the the dilemma. Hopeny
Joybob my DD's ASO titers took 8 months of Rifampin to get to a normal level. To the others, does this mean that the testing titers for your children are too high? My little one just had some titers drawn to determine her immunity if she needed additional vaccines (she has an immune issue) and I am trying to understand what they mean. They were five and I think immunity was 1, but it said it could not differentiate between immunity and infection so I didn't understand that either. I don't really like our immunologist (a hospital based one) and we are moving so I thought I would just ask the new immune, but in the interim am interested in this topic.
