Question about MAOI's......

A couple of years ago I was on the EMSAM patch which is a MAO inhibitor. I had slight benefit with my depression and no side effects from it which was nice. But as you probably know, it has negative interactions with so many other things!!

 

The patch is different b/c it bypasses the stomach so you don't have to follow the food restrictions.

 

Anyways my questions:

1. Can you do the auto-immune treatments (steroids, ivig, blood plasma) while on MAOI?

2. Has anyone seen benefit in ocd with maoi's?

 

I'm thinking about getting back on it b/c the zoloft is causing a lot of weight gain and other side effects, but I'm also trying to get up the NYC and may be put on ivig, etc, so not sure if it's worth the change right now. If there are no interactions, I think I would switch; it could be awhile before my case is reviewed, accepted, and then appt. set up.......if that all even happens - 6+ months.
