Sugar Free Chocolate-Claire and others interested

Hi Claire & other interested,

 

I called Global Sweet and asked about the Choco Perfection Sugar Free Dark Chocolate Bar containing erythritol as the sweetener. They said the erythritol is not derived from corn, but instead derived from cane sugar. Is this a safe option or is that something to be concerned about?

Hi Carolyn,

 

Yes, I called them on this also, forgot to post it. I much prefer cane sugar to corn...

 

If you are sensitive to cane sugar, theoretically this can be an issue, but REALISTICALLY, since it is one step removed, you are MUCH better off than what you are doing now. I would order both the dark and the light chocolate to see which you like better, maybe even melt them with some nuts, or again, choc chips.

Thanks for the info. Yes, you're right about it being much better than what I've been doing. I have IgE reactions to cane sugar, but it's one of the better options and hopefully it will help me sucessfully remove sugar. I went ahead and ordered a few.

 

I found a chocolate bar at my health food store containing no sugars and uses Maltitol as a sweetener. It contains soy, but is better than McDonalds until I get the other chocolate bars.

I wanted to come back here and mentioned that I really loved the dark chocolate bars. I ordered four, but unfortunately I ate all four in the first week I received them.

 

Claire-I'm interested in knowing if you or your son noticed an aftertaste in the chocolate bars.

 

I pesonally didn't notice an aftertaste in the chocolate bars, but I love chocolate so much anyways. My younger sibling liked the chocolate bars, but she said they had an aftertaste.
