lfran
Just found this paper and powerpoint by a group that focuses on the methylation pathway. Thought they were very interesting. For perspective, take a look at the "You are here" slide that is page 66 in the powerpoint. LLM, I thoughtof you when I saw this! Anyway, here's the paper http://m.ajcn.nutrition.org/content/80/6/1611.full.pdf And here's the powerpoint http://www.powershow.com/view/14bd82-OWMwN/S_Jill_James_PhD_powerpoint_ppt_presentation
ThinkGutBacteria
Gut bacteria influence the body’s use of vitamin B6, which in turn has profound effects on the health of nerve and muscle cells. They also modulate immune tolerance and anxiety-related behavior. Just search on gut-brain axis. Effects are highly strain-specific, however. Some beneficials identified so far include L. casei, L. paracasei, L. rhamnosus, B. infantis, B. breve, among others. If I could print it out legibly, I'd frame it It really does put things in perspective. As important as MTHFR is, it's just a drop in the bucket. But then I think, wow, if treating this makes such a big difference for DD, just imagine how cool it will be to be able to play with all that 23andMe data - oh, some really good geek reading in the coming months!
