Dans had a cough for a while He does have some asthma but nothing cronic..I keep asking the MDs to check again for MP .He always tested high and was treated several years ago for this.My question is how can you determine if high MP if you get IVIG ??The donar antibodies are contributing??I have some zith at home ,Im thinking of just putting him on a quick zpack??what do you think?? Pandasphilly Posted January 2, 2013 Report Share Posted January 2, 2013 My son tested negative for mycoplasma through dr. Ts initial bloodwork. But then he suddenly tested positive 6 weeks post ivig. I'm not sure if he aquired it from ivig but our immunologist felt most results would be inaccurate for a number of months. Not sure this helps since it also leaves me puzzled. peglem Posted January 2, 2013 Report Share Posted January 2, 2013 MycoP IgG is one that is specifically included in the IVIG, at protective levels. That being said, in October Allie tested positive, not just for IgG, but she was also IgM positive. So, while the IgG may have been a reflection of donor antibodies, the IgM was certainly hers. Allie's neurologist at the time ran a whole bunch of IgG testing, but the only pathogens she was IgG positive for were the ones that are specifically included in the serum (she gets Privigen brand). I asked, when she was making out the lab slip, if the results would be skewed by the IVIG, and she yes, but she would still be able to tell. I guess if the clinical picture jibes w/ the labs? Although, Allie had no MycoP symptoms, except the neuro stuff. IDK, if you think mycoP is a possibility, maybe you should treat for it just in case- risk vs benefit, right? However, if your daughter has had chronic Myco p then a short Z pack will not get rid of it. It can take months of antibiotic treatment to get rid of chronic Myco p. My daughter tested positive for Myco p in Nov of 2010. She had had frequent episodes of pneumonia in previous years and her ped would treat her with typical ten days and that was it. It wasnt until her PANDAS flair that we found her extrememly high IgG and IgM titers. She is still on antibiotics. Her last titers were still elevated (although starting to come down)six months ago.
