Has anyone tried breastmilk to treat PANDAS?

Recommended Posts

I have been reading about Camel's milk, and how some people think it is the "poor man's IVIG", because it provides immunoglobulins, hopefully resetting the immune system, similar to IVIG treatment. That got me wondering if breastmilk would work in a similar way. I have read the thread about whether or not your PANDAS child was breast fed. But I am wondering if anyone has tried using breast milk to treat PANDAS?

I have asked a couple of ladies I know who are currently nursing their babies whether I could get some of their breastmilk. Haven't heard back yet. I am thinking about making fruit smoothies for my daughter with it. I know in the old days, people recognized the healing capabilities of breastmilk. Am interested in your thoughts.

Hmmm.I just wonder if they're carriers of things that can be passed through milk.. I carried Lyme most of my life and never knew it. Discovered it after I breast fed and panicked because I heard you can pass it through breastmilk. Also I recall dr. T mentioning camels milk.

What did Dr. T say? Good idea? I have been contemplating using it.

Said he heard it has great benefits ... Maybe he heard it from one of us endlessly researching moms:) Are you out there for comment dr t????

. Olive leaf extract & oregano also amazing. I may try camel milk. Supposedly delicious

I also am starting natural antibiotics....olive leaf extract and oregano oil. How do you dose it? Capsule? Drops?

I am curious about this as well. I did nurse my son, who turned 3 in July. He is diagnosed PANS and was breastfed for 16 months. I am currently now nursing my daughter, who is 16 months. She had what I think was an eye blinking tic, that was on and off, for a few months, starting when she was 7 months old. I was nursing her the while time and there was no improvement with the eye blinks.

If it can help, I will pump for years! :D

Hi - with hindsight my dd9 exhibited PANDAS symptoms at 3ish while still breastfeeding. Her first recognised episode was at nearly 5 years old when she was no longer breastfeeding. My ds5, we believe, had his first episode as early as 8 months or so and had other episodes from then on and he didn't stop breastfeeding completely until nearly 4 1/2 years old.

Admittedly, both ds and dd were only 'snacking' on breast milk beyond about 12 months or so but for us it wasn't a cure but who knows, maybe things would have been worse without.. no way of knowing...
