This seems to be the road we are headed down. After a consult with Dr T, he is recommending that we have T/A removal and then prophylactic antibiotics. My question is, which ABX do you all take or recommend, and how long has your child been on it or plan on staying on it?

We did 10 days of zithromax and then 100mg daily of minocycline (started in June) and plan to continue until February of 2013 and then will decide to continue or attempt to stop.....

Our DS took 2,000 mg. of Augmentin XR per day for about 2 years. I realize that might sound like a treatment dose, as opposed to a prophylactic dose, but since the adult, full, treatment dose of Augmentin XR is 4,000 mg. per day, and DS was at half even though he was adult-sized, it is probably best described as sort of a hybrid of treatment and prophylaxis. All I can say is, it worked for us quite well.

Good luck!
