my teen daughter uses this, and I do think she feels it helps her anxiety.

she said it makes her feel more relaxed after a few minutes.

she has high homocysteine, for what it is worth.

Can you tell me what brand you use? Thanks :)

i have just begun using this again -- i used it a while ago for rmyself and crushed it up for ds. i'm not sure what happens when you crush and swallow sublingual -- but it was the only way he'd take it.

i think at the time, i may have felt more energy. but don't remember big differeneces.

i just tested low/normal with b12 and for MTHFR 1298. i still haven't been able to find good info, but there does seem to be a b12 connection with 1298. i get migraines with aura. there is some evidence of possible b12 issues. i was getting b12 shots for 8 weeks and have just switched to sublingual. it's hard to tell but i actually think i am not feeling as good as with the shots. i have gotten a couple of migraines also -- seemed better on shots.

unfortunately, b/c nothing exists in a vaccuum - my integrative MD beiieves migranies are infection related and i have also run out of the antiviral i was taking. it's kind of the same juggling act i try to do for ds -- i see an integrative MD and a neurologist and ty to piece it all together.

i take source naturals 1000mg. when i was researching in the past, i found suggestions that methyl is better to take than cyancobal. i can't really remember -- i think meythl is more an active form -- ?

ds is on a new vitamin prescrip and it is compounded and they use methyl.

what are you trying to accomplish with the b12?

On a side note I began having migraine with aura, no headache, only about 15 years ago. I tried low dose Elavil (made me feel happy but didn't help) and then used Imitrex but sometimes I felt that it made them recur, when I found myself pulled over in a burger king injecting myself I thought there had to be a better way. so I read something about Feverfew on the American headache associations website and started taking it daily (can't recall the dose but you can google it) for 1.5 years. they completely went away and I have had maybe one or two very mild ones in years since that time. It took a few months on feverfew for them to stop but I continued to take it for some time after because I was so afraid of them returning. I used liquid and tablet form, and if I strated to get one I would take some extra liquid Feverfew. Good luck I know they are awful.

Before turning to methylB12, I would test your MTHFR status, your homocycetine levels, your B12 and folate levels and your cysteine levels.

If you have an MTHFR mutation, methylB12 alone won't do much. You'd also need methylfolate as a cofactor. If you don't have an MTHFR mutation, cobalamin (regular B12) could do you as much good as methylcobalmin for far less money.

If you have an MTHFR mutation and you measure high on folate, B12 and/or homocysteine, you'll know you have a methylation block and stuff is going in but not being converted/methylated into the active forms. I would also check cysteine levels. If your cycsteine levels were low, you'd know your glutathione levels and sulfite levels were also low and you likely had a detox issue.

It's estimated that only 1% of sublingual B12 is absorbed. Anything that doesn't get absorbed by the tongue and gets swallowed probably won't survive the gut. That's why shots are generally much more effective. If shots aren't an option to you, then sublingual may still be worth it. My DH and DD have both used it and both said they felt a little different from it. So even 1% may help. But I'd have the blood work run first so you have a better idea of what you do or don't need.

It also depends on what you're trying to gain from it. Are you lacking energy or is some other symptom driving your search?

Right now, we are using Bluebonnet Liquid vitamin b-12 & folic acid.

We used to use something different- I cannot find the name, I think it was Klaire Lab-- but this was the closest I could get at our local store.

My child has not MTHFR mutation and this was recommended by our integrative med doc a few years ago & we are just giving it a go again. Blue Bonnet also has a methylcobalamin product

another thing she says is helpful to her are these homeopathic lozenges :My link

My child is currently in a pretty good "remission" (or maybe cure??) stage from PANS & is mostly only experiencing significant anxiety these days.
