Penicillin prophylaxis

Has anyone noticed symptom reduction from penicillin prophylacticaly?

My 60 lb ds had improvements in symptoms with penicillin vk at a dose of 500 mg 3 x day.

How long did it take to see improvement?

We did not see symptom improvement with pen v, but it did seem to keep her from actually getting another strep infection...

How long did it take to see improvement?

If i remember right it took about 10 days.Unfortunately it only worked for about a month. We have had better symptom control with augmentin 875 twice a day or zithromax 250 three times a week.
