I have asked two different doctors along this path of strep throat cultures...to please order sensitivity. Both have told me that they don't do drug sensitivities on throat cultures. Could they not know? How else can I ask for it next time...I hope there isn't a next time, come to think of it. :-) Kim

but I did read about amoxi treatment failures. I should have posted it here. It said something like if there was a high germ load then thats why it might not work. My.kids have had several treatment failures on amoxi and even keflex. In the usual strep case the child is usually better after 24:hours of abx. My kids would still be horribly ill 48 hours later.

 

I will try to find this tid bit and post it here.

 

There is a way to order a sensitivity. It might be to order a general throat culture vs. Just the group a strep one.

 

They did a sensitivity on my dogs culture so it can be done.....
