Just heard about this yesterday!

NAC clears mercury from the body, crosses the BBB and helps autistic kids in the process. Cool.

Love it! My whole family takes NAC and my daughter has gotten it IV with something my Integrative Medicine Practitioner calls an "antioxidant bag". When she has an IV in for any other reason (steriods, antibiotics, etc), we give her a bag. Seems to help, but she always has gotten something else with it so hard to know which is helping.

Start slowly and watch how he does. My DD16 takes 1200 mg bid.

Yes, Melanie. Agree with NancyD. Start low and slowly titer up; otherwise, it might cause some intestinal distress.

The adult-sized does used in a Yale/NIMH study for treatment-resistance OCD was 3,000 mg./day; given Danny's weight and age, I'd think that would work for him, also. My DS is 15 and 150 lbs.; he's been on the 3,000 mg. dose for over a year now.

Good luck!

For those of you who are using the 3,000 mg per day dosing, where are you getting your supplement? The highest amount I can find is 900mg. Are you just giving multible capsules? I can only get my daughter to take a few things at a time or she starts choking, so I have to get it as concentrated as possible. If I try to sneak it in a drink or food, she knows. Can't get anything past her that way.
