Kimflow Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 Hi, Would anyone be able to share a simple article that discusses symptoms of PANDAS or a short scientific paper about PANDAS for teachers to read. I want them to value what I say and also to understand what the PANDAS diagnosis means for my son. I am not sure they get that this is a big deal. I want them to understand why he can't sit still anymore (choreiform movements) and why he has to sit on the floor out of the blue and touch both ankles simultaneously (OCD) or why he oftens stubs his sneaker on the ground (maybe sensory....as if his shoes are not comfortable since PANDAS) or why stress is the worst thing for him immune system. ETC> ETC> The shorter the better. Thanks, Kim
ibcdbwc Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 I recently sent the bottom two links to our teachers. Am considering sending the video that is on facebook too-- sent by 'fightingmom" on this thread below: http://www.latitudes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=17212 http://www.ocfoundation.org/PANDAS/ Also the white paper is not a hard read if they want to understand how this diagnosis has developed.
DeterminedMomVA Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 This is dated, but short and easy to read: http://www.schoolnursenews.org/BackIssues/2003/0903/pandas0903.pdf This is longer, but lists some possible accommodations the school might make: http://pandasnetwork.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/PANDAS-OT-Article.pdf
