KaraM Posted March 26, 2012 Report Posted March 26, 2012 (edited) I had an appointment with my LLMD today. While I was there I told her how difficult it is for many people to find a doctor that is at least open minded with regard to PANDAS/PANS and asked if I could add her name to our list of PANS friendly doctors. She said yes!! She would not order IVIG..., I don't think this is because she doesn't believe in it, but because it's not her area of expertise. I think if she thought that was necessary, she would refer to someone like Dr. B. At a minimum, she would see patients on an initial basis, to run bloodwork and other tests she deems appropriate. It's a start!!! Maybe as she gets more PANS kids, she'll become more expert in it. She is a holistic, family practitioner and uses a combination of western medicine, herbs and homeopathy. PM or email me if you want her contact info. She is located in right outside of Boston, a few blocks off the Mass Pike. I will add her to the master list. Kara Edited March 28, 2012 by KaraM
bulldog24 Posted March 26, 2012 Report Posted March 26, 2012 Hi kara. Did she know you were going to pot her info in public view? If not ask her. She is my llmd too. I have already lost one llmd from posts like this on lyme sites. Llmds in general dont like these kinds of posts. llmds are usually on private lists that get pmd
bulldog24 Posted March 26, 2012 Report Posted March 26, 2012 I co moderate a lyme group and this isnt a good idea imo
bulldog24 Posted March 26, 2012 Report Posted March 26, 2012 You may be wondering what the big deal is but when the lyme community lost the doc about 3 years ago, we had little options in treatment and left us high and dry. Not to mention this doctors livelyhood was gone! Its the equivelent of losing dr. B or dr t! Now imagine how awful THAT would be
KaraM Posted March 26, 2012 Author Report Posted March 26, 2012 Well....I mentioned I was on an Online PANDAS support group and asked if I could add her name to the list. She said yes, to that. I'm going to edit the post and confirm with her though. Anyone who reads this and needs her info, pm me. KaraM Posted March 26, 2012 Author Report Posted March 26, 2012 Do you know if the same is true for DAN! docs? I looked around online a few weeks ago to try to find a DAN! doc list, but couldn't find one. I'm wondering if they face similar scrutiny.
Orion Posted March 26, 2012 Report Posted March 26, 2012 Do you know if the same is true for DAN! docs? I looked around online a few weeks ago to try to find a DAN! doc list, but couldn't find one. I'm wondering if they face similar scrutiny. I think it all depends on the state or the bent of a particular medical board. At least with PANS/PANDAS you have some NIH support for diagnosing and treatment, and it may not be so problematic listing this doctor on such a list. Lyme, unfortunately, isn't there yet. Thank you for editing your post, I too don't want to lose another physician.
