MomWithOCDSon Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Many of us here have discussed the roles of both the blood brain barrier and glutamate in our kids' conditions and behavior. This is the first time I've seen the two scientifically linked, however. Interesting and leads to a whole host of other questions, too. Brain Glutamate and the BBB
LNN Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 (edited) Also interesting was an article this week that said they've discovered specific antibodies in Alzheimer's - suggesting perhaps that there's an infectious element?? BTW - I recall Yasko discussing the BBB and she mentioned something about lipids being necessary to keep it strong. I was a bit glazed over by that point in the DVD - do you recall what she suggested to strengthen the BBB? Edited March 10, 2012 by LLM

I was a bit glazed over by that point in the DVD - do you recall what she suggested to strengthen the BBB? The lipids ring a bell for me, too, but you probably should envision your "glazed over" and double it with respect to my attention span and recollection . . . sorry. I've been meaning to circle back around to those DVD's myself and just have not had the opportunity of late. I'm hoping to have a little "me time" this weekend, though, and if I do, I'll check back into that. Thanks for the suggestion! If I hit anything, I'll be sure to let you know.
Iowadawn Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 They are well into phase III clinical trials for the use of IVIG for Alzheimer's. Very promising results.
mkur Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Looks interesting and will check this out. Thanks. There are some glutamate articles on nih about the relationship between glutamate and dopamine. In case you missed it and have some extra time.
