missjo Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 My son has been out of school since Thanksgiving because of eating disorder related vomiting (PANDAS). He is having his fourth IVIG yesterday and today. We are planning for him to return to school next week. Vomiting is getting better. My question is do the PANDAS docs recommend sending child back to school right after IVIG or do most docs recommend waiting? We do see one of the PANDAS specialist and she has never mentioned staying out of school after IVIG but I hate calling the office to ask to many questions. He is on antibiotics and has been getting IVIG every four weeks. Any thoughts? Thanks
bulldog24 Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 The doc told me no restrictions (except live vaccines) as long as ds felt well
moosiebell Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 Our son has had one IVIG with Dr. B and will have his second next week. Dr. B. never mentioned whether he should or shouldn't go to school, but because our son's symptoms were exacerbated by the IVIG (apparently many kids get worse initially and then better), we kept him out for a few days, before returning to a curtailed school day (secondary to his PANDAS symptoms, not the IVIG). I hope that helps, Sharon
