KaraM Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Seeing in my children that Lyme symptoms are not always the standard fatigue, joint aches, etc., I decided to have myself evaluated. I was IND on several specific IgeneX bands, so the LLMD I saw ordered some addiitional test, including My Lyme Immune ID and CD57 Panel. My CD57 was low: 19 (ref range 60 - 360). My Lyme Cytokines for OspC were high. Based on all of these results and symptoms that all other docs have attributed to hormones, stress and motherhood, she diagnosed me with Lyme today. On top of that, I also have high yeast levels. Oh joy, the Lyme meds (Doxy) will make the yeast worse. She prescribed Diflucan to hopefully help with that. I'm already taking Candida Cleanse and probiotics daily. She also told me to take and over the counter med called Trans. Factor Lyme. Anyone else heard of/use that? I can't remember what it does to help (and of course didn't write it down). I'll have to do a little research.
Suzan Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 HUGS To you! But I'm glad you have a diagnosis and can help yourself as well. I took Transfer Factor Lyme and also TF Immune. I can't remember which did what since I took them together but I do remember that it made me herx until I got used to it. I know that it was suposed to help raise CD57 and my LLMD uses it exclusively. I took it for quite a while and due to the cost, decided to use Cats Claw which is supposed to raise CD57 too. Hang in there! Susan

I tripped out for a good long while about having Lyme, going back through my history and piecing together how it probably had various effects on different situations. You are one strong and smart lady, don't forget. And there was a thread on here a little while back that Mom's who had treated commented on, saying it was the best thing they ever did. I am 6 months into treatment, and I have had some days where I can 'see' how good it can be- feeling truly deeply relaxed, days where I have more energy- I believe I have been sick for so long, just got used to it, don't know another way. But it has been hard for me, treatment, I won't lie. Anyway, I am using Transfer Factor Multi Immune (not specific Lyme one) Research Nutritionals, Dr. B's line. Honestly don't 'know' what magic, if any, it is working, but seems like a good idea to support the immune system. Yep, also have yeast. Before antibiotics, too. I happen to love Diflucan. I recently had to go Gluten free. No sugar with the antibiotics. But you know that-- ((hugs)) Edited January 23, 2012 by S & S
NancyD Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) Kara, I'm so sorry to hear you also have Lyme! Both my daughter and I have been using Transfer Factor multi immune for many years and it is one supplement I can't be without. Once we were both diagnosed with Lyme we switched to LymPlus (DD also takes multi immune). LymPlus packs a huge punch so beware. You start off slowly with 1 capsule per day and then increase to two times per day after a week. You will feel like you have come down with the flu. That is normal. I felt really crappy for a few weeks. I could barely crawl out of bed so make sure you have some help with the kids. I was lucky that my DD could fix her own meals and get herself off to school. I also started my LymPlus first and made sure I felt better before I started her on it. I was on Doxy and Tindamax for a little over a year and Rifampin for Bartonella for about 6 months and now I am off all abx and feeling really great. I am still taking LymPlus and will check with our doctor next week to see if he wants me to stay on it or switch back to the multi immune. I was lucky that I did not have any yeast problems but I did take high doses of probiotics. I found that epsom salts baths and saunas really helped during this time. Be sure to support your adrenals and check your thyroid as your treat. And of course check liver monthly. Feel better! colleendonny Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 I'm sorry to hear Kara. Sounds like you are on the right path to getting better.
KaraM Posted January 23, 2012 Author Report Posted January 23, 2012 Thanks eveyone. Nancy...how do I support my adrenals?
NancyD Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Starting with good sleep and lots of water, B complex, vitamin C (best taken with bioflavanoids), magnesium, and essential fatty acids. You can also take Cordyceps, a Chinese mushroom used for supporting the adrenal gland. Or Pregnenolone, which is a precursor to many of the hormones produced by the adrenal glands. My DD and I take Adrenal Companion, which is an herbal remedy that contains extracts of cordyceps, rhodiola, and panax ginseng. Thanks eveyone. Nancy...how do I support my adrenals?
