Hello,

My husband has been in Lyme treatment for 6 months now, he has had no improvement in his symptoms. His symptoms are muscle weakness and neurological symptoms.

His LLMD ordered a Heavy Metals test from Doctor's Data.

His Lead level exceeds three times the normal level.

His Gadolinium is higher than expected.

His Cadmium exceeeds twice the Maximum expected level.

It will be 2 weeks before we can get an appt. with the doctor our LLMD recommended to treat the Heavy Metals.

What can we do naturally or with supplements, to start getting rid of the metals???

He is currently on Chlorella 4 1000mg tablets daily.

Any suggestions, would be appreciated.

Thanks, Debbie

I think when you discover metals, your first reaction is like seeing a bug land on you "get it off! get it off!" But with metals, I think you really need to make sure the body is strong enough to handle what you're about to do it. Detoxing metals can be a very difficult process and is harsh on the body. There are things you can do on your own, but I personally think if you do it without first knowing what the body needs to handle the stress, you're not doing yourself any favors. I would wait for the 2 weeks and not try chelation without the guidance of someone who has experience with it.

In the meantime, you can educate yourself on the topic. You may want to research Andy Cutler, who is a chelation guru. However, he is also arrogant and rigid - he wants people to follow his advice exactly. He is black and white and leaves little room for complex health issues. That said, he does have some valid ideas and experiences. So reading up on his ideas might be helpful. I would also read up on detox.

Slow and methodical seems to yield better results than fast and furious.

I agree with everything LLM said. You want to do this under the supervision and guidance of a knowledgable, experienced doctor, so one thing you could do right now is research the recommended doctor and make sure he/she has a good reputation. Also, if your husband has any amalgam fillings in his mouth, these will need to come out before starting chelation because they are almost 50% mercury. If he does have amalgams, you can look at the IAOMT (International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology) website to learn more about the safe removal of these and find a dentist in your area who knows how to do it.

Also, if this wasn't done with the first test, you'll want to do a provocation test at some point to get a better idea of what's in there. If his first test wasn't a provocation (with a chelator) there's probably a lot more in his body than the test indicated.
