Hi,

I have a feeling I'm going to get a variety of answers here, but I'll ask anyway.

I know a number of you have pulsed Tindamax to treat Lyme cysts. We are about to do 2 days on, 5 days off. What kind of herx did you get?

My dd10 is doing really well right now after 7 months of Bartonella treatment (Zith and Bactrim). Dr. J. recommended we add the Tindamax with the hope that it will get her the rest of the way there. I'm scared to death of a herx.

Have any of you been in a similar situation...doing well, but not 100%, then added a cyst buster? If yes, how did it go?

Thanks,

Kara

We do Flagyl (also a cyst buster) only every other Friday. The first time we had some scary neuro stuff the next day. Remember that everyone will have a different experience.

Here is a thread about it that I wrote on the forum:

(To cut to the chase read the last 2 posts on this thread - I sum things up with a timeline and posted some video)

LLMD said thought it defenitly was a herx and they were not surprised. They did want the neurologist to maybe look at level of seizure medication or other supports. We did raise seizure meds. Neuro also believed it was related to Lyme also.

The episode on the video tape was similar to ones that we first noticed back in 2004 at 1 years old when we first realized something was wrong with Aidan but the taped one lasted longer than the earlier ones. We believe he has congenital Lyme diagnosed in Jan 2010 at 8 years old. The panic/falling incident that I mentioned at 9:00 in the timeline had happened similarly once before Lyme diagnosis back in July 2010.

I was afraid to give the Flagyl again in case it was an drug reaction but he did not have a dramatic episode again if he herxes from it now it is not as obvious.

Limited experience here, only day 6 of Tindamax- we are doing 1 week on, 1 week off for a month,

followed by next month of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off-

My personal current theory is that our 7 straight months of Azith. only trying to treat pandas may

have put a lot of the Lyme bacteria into cyst form, which is why the herx is so bad-

she is still a able to school, but the herx is rough- at least you'll just do the weekends-

I am trying to support detox as best I can- bentonite caps, bowels moving, various drainage remedies, massage with Epsom salt cream,

ibuprofen at times, etc.

Hang in there.

Tindamax is supposedly better tolerated than Flagyl.

DD is on the same protocol- 2 days on 5 days off. She hasn't experienced anything bad- maybe a tad more symptomatic for 2 days afterwards, that is about it.

We did same as you 2 days on, 5 off, for 4 weeks. Herxed so badly we had to stop. Became very Pandas-like.

When we stopped, we did lots of digging - found other things getting in the way (slight mold, KPU, methylation/detox issues). I can totally understand your concerns. But the good news is that once we stopped the tindamax, things calmed down (took about 3 weeks). So it didn't set off something that was long-lived.

Try it - it may go well. If not, you can stop.
