Onecrazylife Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 I am new to the pandas community and have an appt with the above doctor in the next month. What can I expect from this meeting? My daughter recently had a pandas flare after a dental cleaning. She was treated on ABX for a month and thankfully is better, but not completely. I really like the doctor we have, but can't afford him long term as he is not covered by insurance. Just looking for some info and if anyone has experience with the above doctor that would be great too. Thanks in advance.
Christianmom Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 I recently had an appointment with Dr. Elia. I would make sure she is covered by your insurance. With my insurance CHOP is in-network, but she is not. Her fees are very, very high--something like $900 for a consult. In comparison, I believe Dr. Trifiletti charges $450 for the same service. Her PANDAS experience is limited, nothing like dealing with Dr. Trifiletti or Dr. K. Also, she treats according to a sudden-onset PANDAS protocol. Otherwise she doesn't believe PANDAS exists. Unfortunately, my son does not fit the normal PANDAS protocol, so she was no help to us. Should have listened to others and saved my money.
