T_Mom Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) ...5 nights ago. My almost 5 year old daughter, Kayleigh, became a different little girl. ... This summer, maybe late May/ early June, I noticed a bullseye rash on her upper arm... ...but this time she was saying, "I'm saying a bad word with my mouth shut." And she kept saying this... ... I also noticed the lip smacking on Friday morning... ...Repeating words in her head -Lip smacking -Biting her bottom lip -Moving her jaw to the side -Clapping more -More touchy feely -More defiant, (which she hardly ever was) -Clearing her throat -She also has a small rash on her bellybutton -She wants to scratch things -She keeps doing things and says that she's doing it a little hard (She was using her fist to hit her other hand.) -She saying that's she's trying to not say words in her head, and she can't stop and that she's sorry -She's dissecting every word we say, asking if it's a bad word. Or asking about everything we say. She is just a different child and I'm just sick over this. Wow-- You have done a great job in finding out about Ps this early in the bout of "whatever" this is. I am sorry it is happening to you. There has obviously been a significant change in your dear daughter, and you do not want to leave her like this, to say the least, she does not sound happy. If I were you, (and we have been in the midst of this for 4 years off and on now), I would RUN, not walk, to a Ps treating doctor. At the top of the forum is a thread by parents listing doctors that have helped them across the country--under "helpful threads." Again, I would RUN to a Ps treating doctor, who is knowledgeable and able to order blood tests, and willing to try to treat. Yes, I would test for lyme too. Early on my daughter's behaviors were sudden onset and I can tell you to be careful, as you all too quickly "get used to those odd behaviors" and you do not want those to be your new norm. Believe me, if Ps, it is likely to get worse. 1.) Blood work, 2.) Try to get a doctor to prescribe 30 days of antibiotics, to try--take a look at the flowchart (also on the helpful threads post top of the forum.) and then follow on if/as necessary. re: spinal tap. Honestly, it was suggested for my oldest d 4 years ago. We were scared and that held us back. I wish we had done it, it may have saved us all a long bout of horrid memories if something had shown up--it rules out possible CNS infections, could be very helpful if there is something there. With Ps, PANS, Pitand--whatever version it may be, or something else--if it is neuropsych--it is physically based and you must go after it in that way, our experience.
