MaggiesMoons Posted September 29, 2011 Report Posted September 29, 2011 So I called the Ped and requested ABX augmentin, he called later that evening and talked for a good 1/2 hour re: what was going on and why and so on. Quite a conversation compared to what most docs are typical of in my experience. Due to my ds8 mild symptoms at the time he only gave me 14 days but it is better than nothing and I was in tears last night when he agreed without all of that negative, you are a panicked mom, reaction I have been reading so much about. He also had a few choice words for another Dr who does not take ANY insurance yet can diagnose PANDAS...he basically said to stay away from any doc like that who is supposed to be a doc to HELP people yet is putting an undue burden on families....hats off to my ped for stepping up and speaking out! We have an appointment at the immunologist in Oct. and even though my ped said they would know what to test for, I am still taking a list that another member pm me just to make sure our trip and time is not wasted. Don't want to wait another month and my ds8 cannot and should not have to wait because we get it wrong or miss something the 1st time. Also waiting on an appointment with Dr Murphy.......from what I hear that could be a ways out, but sending all records and an=m hopeful and praying for the best! Thanks so much to those who have helped guide me through the beginning of what seems to be a long road to a diagnosis. I honestly do not know what I would have done or who I would have turned to if it were not for this forum I just happened to stumble upon....You guys ROCK! And even though I wish none of us were on here for the reason we are---I am eternally grateful for all of you and this site! God bless you all and your precious children.....someday others will not have to go through this needle in a haystack search to save their children!
beeskneesmommy Posted September 29, 2011 Report Posted September 29, 2011 Good going Maggie - best to you and yours. Kath
airial95 Posted September 30, 2011 Report Posted September 30, 2011 Maggie, How long ago did you call Dr. Murphys? We expected a long wait for our first appointment as well. When I called, they said someone would contact me about preliminary information and getting records. They called back within 2 days. They said it may be at least a 2-3 weeks before they called back to schedule the appointment. They called about a week later and offered us an appointment the following week. So from my initial call, it was only about 3 weeks until we got in. That was summer 2010, but I thought I'd let you know, for us it wasn't that bad. Where in Florida are you? We're on the west coast, and I know some very PANDAS friendly docs in our area if you're even in need. Good Luck!
