julie_2girls
On the OCD site I asked about LDA immunotherapy. My daughter has major food and inhalant allergies, IgE >2400. She has had some OCD behavior but is very high functioning. She has autoimmune diseases: psoriasis and hashimotos. We tested for bacteria during her LDA dr consultation and she came up positive for strep. She had her first LDA and was treated for strep which increased her OCD significantly. We have wondered about pandas but never knew for sure. We tested titers and they came back fine. She is 15 now. She has strep throat at age 13 and symptoms were aggravated but again very manageable. She says currently her OCD does not take up more then an hour of her day. Although she is very frustrated with it. Okay my big question does anyone know if LDA helps or aggravates Pandas? If she has it. I know she has OCD. I thought if this is all an autoimmune reaction then the LDA should help. I believe we will hold off on the 2nd LDA with the strep. I will have to learn more and better to wait then make it any worse. I look forward to any feedback/thoughts.

Jkekhoua
Did you ever determine if LDA helps or aggravates pans/pandas? I'm asking myself the same question regarding my daughter. Would love to hear what you found out.
nicklemama
This won't be of help but my sons doctor wanted him to have LDA with strep but I have not gone forward with it. I just cannot do it.
PowPow
Is this different than allergy shots? & it is done for strep? Is this an integrative med thing?
nicklemama
It's different than allergy shots but supposedly with the same effect. You do it every other month for about a year and then spread the doses out further until you are done in a few years just like regular allergy shots. It's integrative. It can be done for strep. My sons doing pretty well and I don't have the nerve to pull the trigger. My son does have allergies diagnosed thru the skin prick testing. Currently being controlled with daily Claritin and Flonase and Patanol eye drops when needed.

nicklemama
Exactly, low and slow. His doctor would really like him to do LDA. I'm not certain what else it can be used for.
