Coram for IVIg

Hi, yes, we used Coram for both my daughter's HD-IVIGs.

 

I did not feel my dd6 was fit for long travel overnight anywhere, we have other children difficult to find overnight care for, the added travel expenses, etc.

Coram was 20 minutes from our house- to be able to take her right home afterwards, her be in her own bed, wonderful. Get up go right back the next day.

 

I will say this: This is what these people do all day, IVIG's. They were pro at it. We had the same nurse for the entire day, private room, bathroom right next door, recliner chair, TV w/DVD player, they gave us a toy packet at the end.

 

What made me feel comfortable: Our prescribing Dr. sent over the prescription, but then did a few follow up conversations over the phone with the pharmacist, nursing manager, going over all the details. I had also prepped myself, so I questioned what they were doing throughout- dosages, layers of things.

My Dr. and the pharmacist talk back and forth to make sure they are on the same page- then the pharmacist came to see up before the start to go over it again.

 

And, it saved us a lot of money, as we paid cash (no insurance coverage for this sort of thing.)

I would say, just make sure Coram and your prescribing Dr. talk back and forth, and you talk with Coram to go over all the details.

P.S. They were able to talk my dd into leaving in the IV in her arm overnight, huge help.
