cobbiemommy Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 DS, 12, is responding very well to Rifampin and Bactrim in treating Bartonella. He just finished a course of Tindamax that could have jarred something loose. How do any of you handle foot pain. He just started school and is going 5.5 hours and his feet are killing him. I notice he is walking kind of funny at the end of the school day. Next week we go to full 8 hour days, so any help would be appreciated. Cobbie
Iowadawn Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 (edited) When the heel pain was the worst (but we didn't know it was bart) there wasn't too much we found that helped. We don't buy expensive shoes, so we did get some squishy heel inserts. This and ibuprofen helped some. We are on Rifampin & biaxin for the bart, along with a colloidal silver spray protocol. I think we have seen a big jump since adding this (cs). He is in school and settling in better & better. He is loving 6th grade. Encouraged. I wish I had great ideas, but this is about it. NancyD Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 I've had heel pain for years -- and then had two surgeries -- one for plantar fasciitis and one for a feel spur. And i still have foot pain. Now I think it was due to Bartonella. Since I've been on Rifampin the foot pain is much less. My pain is always worse at night and morning. In addition to wearing good arch supports and cushioned inserts, the one thing I find really helps pain in the fascia area is to use a night splint. For me, it makes a huge difference. I got mine from my podiatrist but you can go online to order one. They even make a sock night splint, which is inexpensive.
