harold
Hi, I've had OCD for a year now, and tried a course of Inositol for 6 weeks. I tried quite high dosages of 10 grams in the hope that it would have some kind of positive affect. Although I've read loads of success stories associated with Inositol, it has not helped me at all. My OCD gets steadily worse, so I've stopped taking it. I'm wondering what to try next. I've heard of maybe 5-HTP or SAMe? Has anyone been in this position before? Any help would be most appreciated. Laurensmom
I think overall nutrition might play a role. Tamar Chansky has written an article which gives an idea of what is helpful. http://www.worrywisekids.org/newsletter/12_05_print.html I've put together a shopping list based on her recommendations. whole grains – especially wheat, brown rice, oats, millet, barley whole grain cereals (such as oatmeal, wheatgerm and rice) dairy, especially milk, cheese (think pizza!) yogurt eggs nuts/seeds – especially walnuts, peanuts, sunflower, sesame seeds, tahini fish – especially tuna, cod, salmon, halibut, trout, sardines seafood - especially crab, clams, oysters beef chicken – especially breast lamb liver pork turkey legumes - especially black beans, chick-peas, green peas, soybeans, tofu veggies, especially okra, broccoli, spinach, baked potato with the skin, sweet potatoes, asparagus, romaine lettuce, bok choy, kale, mushrooms – especially crimini tomatoes – including paste/puree, eggplant, brussel sprouts, avocado fruits, especially mangos, bananas, apricots, cantaloupe, watermelon raisins, kiwi citrus fruits (excluding lemons) Best wishes to you! Giselle
Hi there, I posted a while back about neurotransmitters so will attach a link: http://www.latitudes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=1408 He's been doing really well on this regime until just recently when he got a horrible cold but it is already starting to settle down now that the cold is almost completely out of his system so I think that it was just the added burden of the cold that overloaded his body. I'd really suggest getting a neurotransmitter test through NeuroScience - it really helped us with any guessing. It only cost $160 and tested sooo much! wellbeing
Newbie, 10 gms will not do. Even for depressions alone the suggested dosage is 12 gms. for ocd the dosage is 18 gms and maybe slightly less if you body weight is less.
