Can you have lyme if ESR is normal?

My son, 16, just got his ESR test (inflammation) results and it was in the normal range, even low -- 3 mm/hr (0-15 is normal). I can't understand how there can be infection when there is no inflammation. Has anyone else seen this with their child?

For my dd9, the only time hers was off was when her appendix went bad. Otherwise, normal. Mine too. Totally normal.

Ours are normal as well.
