Guest pandas16 Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 Well I figured I'd share what I learned after going to the doctor a little while back. Well most of you know my story, but I had a severe case of PANDAS in 98, was treated aggressively and had a 10/11 year remission until college when things started going down hill and basically collapsed after I graduated. (this year) Right now I'm using TSO- still not sure how it's going. I'll know for sure if it worked or not in a month but if it doesn't work here's what my psychiatrist suggested /said. In the end, strep triggers OCD/Tics etc, but the problem in the brain is still the same- a chemical imbalance and/or one part of the brain is over firing or the signaling is messed up. He said he had pretty good success using anti-glutamate drugs with PANDAS and that rtms by brainwaves - repetited transcrannial magnetic stimulation could really be of benefit because it polarizes the neurons and corrects the misfiring. That in combination with antinflammatory supplements sounds really interesting and effective. In the end, it's your quality of life that's important. Just figured i'd share what I learned.
