lismom Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 Thinking of trying krill oil. I know I need to add omegas in the mix of supps. Tried a couple fish oils with increase of tics which I know some kids can't tolerate this kind of oil. Anyone try krill?
justinekno Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 We have been using Krill Oil for about three weeks. Not sure if I see any improvement (we are trying to conquer brain fog and focus). Although our LLMD has recently suggested we switch to salmon oil as it is supposed to be more helpful in people who have mold exposure. We have yet to try it though. Since I have this very expensive bottle of krill oil, I have been taking it also. I haven't seen any benefits either. Am wondering if krill oil doesn't help people with mold exposure or if salmon oil is just better. I will have to ask LLMD at our next appt. I'm not too clear on the reason for switching. Suzan Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 I was wondering about Krill to since dd8 seems to have an issue with fish oil and I can't find a way to get her enough omega 3. I was just reading about this product tonight which the blogger (mom with ADHD child) recommended as her first choice. DD can't swallow pills though which is my main issue since the liquids all seem to be flavored with lemon which she can't have. http://www.fishoilbenefitsexplained.com/omega-xl.html Susan

lynn Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 DS has never been able to take any fish oil without activation--increase in tics, ADHD, anger. We thought Krill would be the answer, but it was the same pattern, slight improvement for 2 days, then crash and worse.

I was also considering flax seed oil. Although I read its an inferior source.
lynn Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 We had a pretty good run with flax oil (3 or 4 years.) Then it started causing attention problems. Was it that I changed something else that was making his body able to use it? I dont know. I wasn't thinking on that level then (and really am not now, of course.)

I know, I wish I knew if my dd was reacting to the lemon or the fish oil. She's also taken Coromega which has no lemon but she reacts to that too. She's also highly intolerant to flax oil so we can't take that either. It ry to give her chia seed but I run out of ways to get enough of it into her daily. Note: Coromega has Vanillan and I have often thought maybe she was sensitive to that for various reasons that I can't remember right now. But it may just be the fish oil Susan

justinekno Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 Would you say your son became more emotional while on the krill oil? DS has never been able to take any fish oil without activation--increase in tics, ADHD, anger. We thought Krill would be the answer, but it was the same pattern, slight improvement for 2 days, then crash and worse.
lynn Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 Yes, but that's not the whole of it--sort of a whirling dervish of anger/sadness combined with a total inability to focus or think logically.
justinekno Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 (edited) We started krill oil three weeks ago and have had nothing but emotional meltdowns and moodiness ever since. The only other thing we did at the same time was change probiotics. I'm going to stop the krill oil for a few days and see how we do. Ironically, I am taking it too and have been very anxious and uptight. I chalked it up to PMS but now I'm starting to wonder if it's the krill oil. That would be a shame because I had such high hopes for it to help with focus and brain fog. Did you see improvement when you stopped the krill oil? Yes, but that's not the whole of it--sort of a whirling dervish of anger/sadness combined with a total inability to focus or think logically. Edited May 22, 2011 by justinekno
