AmySLP
My daughter has had an elevated TSH (which would mean hypothyroidism. WHen onset of this is after birth, this is considered/called autoimmune hypothyroidism. Anyone else have a problem with this in your PANDAS child? Dr B tested for this and twice it's come back elevated. IS this part of his standard bloodwork-Have others who have seen him had this tested as well? Thanks, Amy

Thanks, Amy I think he does do TSH testing as part of his initial battery of tests. My non PANDAS daughter had elevated TSH, but TS4 and TS6 (do I have the right numbers) were normal range. He re tested a couple of months later (after a round of prednisone for sinusitis) and TSH was fine. We are keeping an eye on it in case it was autimmune and stopped with the prednisone. When I researched her elevated TSH I did find that this can happen after mono (which she had a year ago) and also with lyme (she is not positive for lyme as far as I know). Is he concerned about autimmune thyroid problems with your daughter?
JJMom39
There are blood tests that are used to specifically check for auto-immune hypothyroidism--they are anti-thyroglobulin antibody and anti-thyroid peroxidase antibodies (anti-TPO). Have you had these checked in your dd? If not that might give you more information to go on.
AmySLP
My daughter did have mono dx. on Jan 1, 2009. She tested positive on band 41 & 23 (i think that's the right #) on the WB, which we did not plan to pursue. My understanding is that these bands are often positive in non-lyme cases as well. My daughter also was negative on the T3 & T4 (or in normal range). I have a call in to Dr. B & an e-mail out to his nurses. Ugh! Just want to scream. Every bit of labwork shows some problem everytime. This was a repeat lab, as this number was high a few months back as well. My daughter has never been on a steroid. JJmom-thanks for this info. I will be setting up a endocrinology appt ASAP. Thanks so much, as always I am so greatful for all the great info I have received on this forum for 2 years and counting (unfortunately), Amy
