My son has tics but we can't find a good doctor...

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am so glad that I found this forum. We are located far far away in a South east asian country, Indonesia.

I have read through some of Indonesian articles about tics. Most of the doctors are not as advanced in their knowledge about tics.

We are seeing one doctor for my son's tics. He is pretty good. But he is mostly concentrating with food alergy and treat many (if not all) of his children patients with the same basic food elimination treatment based on his experience. And he did not mention that milk is bad for tics, i dont think he is aware.

My son is 3 years old and 2 months. He had only eye tics sometimes before the age of 3. I didnt know that it was tics.

Then the eye tics dissapear. Sometimes after 3 years old, I read on an article that non pasterized milk is actually a better milk. Without knowing that my son has tics, I replaced his milk with fresh milk, non pasteurized ones, and few days drinking the milk, he had tics which are worse than the previous one, it included mouth tics. So I got worried, took him to doctor, but the doctor worried more on his weight, and suggested to have him drink more milk, the pasteurized milk. He saw his tics and suggested on some food elimination.

The doctor has an all purpose list of food elimination based on his experience. We took the extreme suggestion and eliminated so much of food from my son's diet. He is allowed to eat lamb, beef, green beans, and potatoes.

And oh by the way, the doctor gave an alergy medication for my son, and his tics almost disappeared... like he almost didnt have it....

but then after the alergy medication got over, his tics again increased.

My husband and I decided to remove milk from his diet, and his tics is reduced but not as much as when he took the alergy medication.

I am getting the book Natural Treatments for Tics and Tourette's: A Patient and Family Guide by Sheila J. Rogers but I will only receive it here in Indonesia the beginning of June.

My question to you is.. can I be referred to a good doctor in which I can consult online... I dont believe the doctors in Indonesia have the best knowledge for tics.

I would really appreciate it...

Thank you so much,

Annisa
