JenniferG Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 My dd7 saw a new MD in NJ this week. Changed her meds from Azith to Aug and Azith. I had taken her off all meds to sort of have a fresh start when we saw him. She seemed so much better OFF of the meds. Then I started Azith and Aug. Big change....increased anxiety, nightmares, anger/raging, age regression. So, I stopped onde day into them. She got better for a day and a half. Tonight was her First Reconciliation.....wouldn't hug or talk to anyone. Melted before we left....very anxious about the visit with the priest....calling herself stupid because she couldn't remember her "lines", saying she was going to be the ugliest girl there with the ugliest clothes..etc. I am very confused right now. Is this herxing or PANDAS or just an attidue problem!!!??? My husband is at his wits end with her. Her new MD said she is sever PANDAS (after hearing everyones elses experiences..we thought she was mild) and is testing for Lyme. Her ASO neg, AntiDnase neg, but consistent low IgE, Basos, and IgG4...which he has been studying and says this is a VERY common pattern in PANDAS. No vaccines "took" ( Hib, Tetanus and Pneumoccoal). Have an appt. with Dr. J in May. Next step....or ideas to get through the weekend???
AmbersMommy Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 I would bet it was a herx. My dd7 was diagnosed with PANDAS last July. She was then diagnosed with Lyme in August. She had been put on Azithromycin for the PANDAS. It helped somewhat with her symptoms, but it didn't make them go away completely. We went to a LLMD whose name I got off of the International Lyme Disease Assocation's website. He put her on Bactrim. All heck then broke loose!! The symptoms that had gone away came back full force. It was awful. The doctor assured me it was a herx. The fact that she was reacting like that meant that the medication was working and the Lyme was dying. It took at least 2 weeks...seems now it was almost a month before she was better..and she was better than she was before starting the Bactrim. If she has Lyme she has neurotoxins in her system. My dd's LLMD is having her take Glutathione as well as PEKANA Detox drops. to help clear out her system. I noticed a positive difference in her after a couple of days of taking each of the two which I started at different times. I also noticed that giving her a lot of green tea seems to help. She asks for it on her own now. I think she can tell it makes her feel better. She will drink 4 or more cups of it a day with honey in it. Ibuprofen lessens my daughter's symptoms as well!!! Ibuprofen was actually the first thing I found that helped her anxiety. It didn't fix it, but it did make a noticable difference and it helped her fall asleep. Good luck getting through the weekend!!!! Lisa
justinekno Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 I wonder why the green tea helps. Do you use a certain brand? My son likes a blueberry herb tea that I buy but I haven't paid attention to see if it helps. I also noticed that giving her a lot of green tea seems to help. She asks for it bon her own now. I think she can tell it makes her feel better. She will drink 4 or more cups of it a day with honey in it.

I give my daughter theanine capsules.
