JenniferG Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 My ds3.5 has got a very vague spotted rash on his torso. It is spread out (not too many spots). I know some kids get it with strep throat. What if he isn't sick? His brother has a sinus infection and sister is getting over strep throat.
LNN Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 I'd take pictures of the rash and then head to the pedi for a swab and culture. At the risk of making some roll their eyes, tick illnesses can cause rashes as well, as toxins are released. That's why some photos may be helpful if you end up seeing specialists.
AmySLP Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 Scarletina (strep rash) appears on the torso first. In my daughter it was always spread out and classically "sandpaper-like." It was my daughter's only "typical" sign of strep. Google strep rash and compare-it can be cultured-but my daughter was always positive in the throat when she had the rash. Amy
