cobbiemommy Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 he had to be exempted from P.E. because of his vasculitis and thickened blood. Good luck. cobbie -- what do you mean thickened blood? The LLMD explained that the Lyme/BaRT/Babesia infects the red blood cells and causes them to thicken. The blood vessels are also swollen because of the Lyme as well. This leads to improper delivery of blood (and therefore antibiotic) to the capillaries and smaller vessels in the organs. Which makes those places perfect for the bacterium to hide out in! Therefore we are trying to keep the inflammation down and he is taking Heparin to thin the blood so that it will get into all of the tissues. His legs, especially, look like a road map of blood vessels. They are sort of a purplish looking lacy network. Cobbie
