DS, 11, just recovered from a bout with the flu. LLMD prescribed Tamiflu and we started taking it on the third day of flu and flu symptoms resolved fairly quickly. Last dose of Tamiflu was yesterday and today he is crying, very upset, and clingy. Several kids at school were mean to him, so that is part of the situation, but now I am worried that he having a blip or whatever you want to call it. How long could this last? Gave him dose of Xanax that was prescribed for situation like this and he is still crying off and on several hours later.

He is taking Bicillin, so I have no fears of strep. He is also taking Doxycycline and Zithromax. We are taking Artemesia and Mepron on Fridays. LLMD wants to go slow on Mepron and hit it hard on summer vacation. I am ready to pull him from school and hit it hard now. Has anyone done this????

Trying to sort out the separate issues. School bullying which causes lots of anxiety, homework issues that cause some anxiety, starting Mepron which can cause Mepron blues, and recovering from flu which might cause setback. Have talked to principal and teacher till I am blue in the face, but they don't seem to get it.

Hate this disease.

dd9 just got over something, was not the flu but it was a virus of some sort and she was set back for about 2 weeks. I would think that the increase in crying you see could be from the flu. My dd also reacted to tamiflu and acted really whonky while she was on it, but her symptoms stopped as soon as the dose was over (that was 2 years ago when we all got the flu).

Could it also be a reaction to lyme die off?

How is he doing today? I know it's still early in the day....

Still wonky. Talked to his teacher and she said he had been acting in angry manner all week. Tomorrow, I think I'll keep him home from school, since he has to get a shot in the early afternoon anyway. Maybe they will have a snow day!
