SSS Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 I can't remember! I had both pulled on all 3 of my kids (my 5 yr. old is the PANDAS child- she had both tests last Spring, were in the normal range, but pulled again yesterday) Anyway, I decided to check both my husband and myself (worried Dad's story forever in my head) but I had to order them off of Great Plains, our own Dr. wouldn't do it. I only ordered the Anti- DNSase test, and now I think I should have ordered the ASO! Which one only tells you if you have ever had strep before? Did I order the wrong one? Thank you!
MomWithOCDSon Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 I know the ASO registers more recent exposure (2-4 weeks, I think), while the AntiDnase-B registers a previous exposure/infection (6-8 weeks, as I remember). I suppose it's possible that, after multiple re-exposures, your "baseline" might permanently move up above a "normal average," and perhaps that is also reflected in the AntiDnase-B results? Buster had spelled these tests out some months ago; maybe check the pinned threads?
SSS Posted February 11, 2011 Author Report Posted February 11, 2011 Thank you :-) I did go back and read through Buster's information (amazing) and I still don't know, lol. Well, bottom line, I got all 5 of us cultured, the 3 kids both ASO/Anti-DNase blood tests, DH and I the Anti-DNase tests done all this week. Put a fork in me, I'm done.
