Guest pandas16 Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 While not in an exacerbation, my PANDAS symptoms flared up horribly on clarithromycin and on Augmentin, I feel a flare too. Any ideas what this could be? Has anyone experienced this? What can I do?

browneyesmom Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Pandas16... herx is certainly possible... also, is it possible you may have thrush? It can appear in the mouth (white patches) or even the gut. Do you take probiotics? My dd11 takes probiotics but wound up with yeast anyway. Might want to check with your doc about yeast/thrush. Feel better soon.
momcap Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 My DS7 also flared VERY badly on Augmentin, and also on clarithromycin (Biaxin). We did each for 1 month, and just finished 2 weeks ago. Now he's back to amoxicillin, which helped him in the past, only now he's saying it makes him feel worse too. Since we did augmentin and biaxin, he has had many new physical symptoms - arm & leg rashes, joints swelling and turning purple, his feet "can't feel the floor", etc. I really think this is lyme. I have a positive western blot for lyme, and we are both waiting to see a LLMD, so I can't say for sure yet. I have no idea if you are experiencing a similar thing, I am just sharing our personal experience with Augmentin and Biaxin. You could try taking bentonite clay or activated charcoal. IF you're experiencing a herx, those should help lessen symptoms. I hope you find answers and get feeling better. Best wishes!
thereishope Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Why were you taking those meds...for myco P? I believe you herx with that as well.Did you go from no meds to both? If so, like Denise said, it could be really affecting your gut.
